Class of 1983/84

Many years ago, between the years 1983 and 1984, a class of children were born to individual mothers in a number of towns in and around the city of London, England. These boys shared each others joys, sadness, playtime, bullying, teacher-picking-ons and simchas all the way from Auntie Hellen in kindergarten up until today where they find themselves in all four corners of the world. This new resource is an effort to maintain and enhance a wonderful and unique bond that exists among them.

This morning, the smicah went on a class trip...
at 5 am we grogerly we down stairs to meet, feitel Levin... To go to watch how Jewish people kill chickens...

we learnt that they kill them very fast!
you have about three workers forming a human chain next to the shochet who just cuts them and checks the shechitah in a time frame of 0.43 of a second, and then its the next one... And like so he does till the next shochet comes and switches with him... ... ... ... And then they switch again.

it is a modern plant here in Melbourne (that's what they said) the whole thing is then done by machine... The chicken get hung on a conveyer belt...And it goes for a long ride... It gets its feathers taken of and then it gets its guts pulled out, under the watchful eye of a mashgiach who pulls of the ones with a sha, aloh or chops of the neck as a sign that it is non kosher and it is to be given for the non Jewish market.

we discovered that the 21st century chickens are all round rather lazy birds... They get fed in there cage from the day they are born and they don't do any exercise, as a result the end up with weak bones and many of them end up being broken... But don't worry, if it has a broken foot the bird is still kosher (just you cant eat the leg because of ever min hachay).

next week we will be going to watch how they turminate the lives of cows... and get a closer vew of their intestines...

have a good shabbos

Inspirational! Evidently you are having a "good" time while learning hard.
